Top 10 Travel Tips

03 October

Now I'm sure that it is quite apparent that I absolutely love traveling and anytime I have a chance I just want to jet off on an adventure. So with that being said I thought it would be a good idea to share some of my top ten tips for when it comes to planning and booking a holiday.

Top 10 Travel Tips

1.Time of year
Now I guess this is different depending on the country you're planning on travelling to but school holidays have a big part to play when it comes to the prices of holiday destinations. For instance, May, July, August and October are probably when you will find prices increasing because kids are on school break and those are considered peak times for travellers.

2. Budget
Be realistic about your budget and where you can actually afford to go. For instance, it might be cheaper to go to a particular country in April rather than in September so do some research and if you can change your plans to suit your pocket.

3. Morning Flights
Usually cheaper all round to get an early flight and no I don't mean 11am I'm talking 6-8am in the morning lol. Even though you're probably going to be exhausted whilst travelling at least you will arrive at your destination in the day time, so as soon as you land you can get exploring!... Plus who even likes waiting all day for their flight?

4. Luggage
This tip is especially for people that are travelling in and around Europe. You should consider travelling with just hand luggage, I know girls this might sound crazy but this is a great way to save some money. It also saves time, so you can avoid those long queues when it comes to checking in luggage onto the aircraft. If you're going away for 3/4 nights you honestly do not need a suitcase that holds up to 23kg.

5.Transfers
Booking your transfer separately will save you some coins, I use www.hoppa.com they always have discount codes online aswell which is great. If you're travelling to a city eg, Amsterdam, Paris or Berlin just to name a few, it would be even cheaper to just grab a train/tram to get you to your hotel.

6.Trip Advisor
I live by this site, not only for travelling but for restaurants and places to visit. They have great reviews, traveller photos, amenities and all the other important things you need to know. I use this often to compare hotels etc.

7. Money
I usually change my money before I go away but some people prefer to wait until they get to the airport. There isn't a right way to go about it however, I would advise you to research currency exchange rates and compare before going to the first one you find. Previous experience has taught me that the post office probably has the worst exchange rate ever.

8. Travel Insurance
So important, You never know what could happen so it's always a good idea to be prepared. It's cheaper to do an annual cover especially if you're planning to go away more than 3 times in that year. Grab yours on www.moneysupermarket.com at least you're covered if anything does happen.

9. Let someone at home know
If you're travelling on your own or with friends just let your parents know your flight details and where you will be staying. It stops them from worrying and calling you everyday when you're away.

10. Websites for deals
On the Beach
Icelolly
Teletext holidays
Travel republic
Groupon

Hope these tips helped, happy travels :)
